Classification of wine

Wine is a product obtained by whole or partical alcohol fermentation of must from grapes.

By quality they are classifield on :

• Table wines
• Table wines with label of controled origin
• Quality wines with label of controled origin
• First-class wines with label of controled origin
• Predicate wines
• Archive wines
• Special wines
• Sparkling wines

By the quatity of no fermented sugar wines are classified on :

• dry - /wine conteins the most up to 4 g/l of no fermented sugar /
• semi-dry - / wine conteins the most from 4 g/l to 12 g/l of no fermented sugar /
• semi-swet - / wine conteins the most from 12 g/l to 50 g/l of no fermented sugar /
• sweet - / wine conteins the most more than 50 g/l of no fermented sugar /

By the color wines are cllassified on :

• white
• rose
• red

Table wine is the wine produced from one or more sorts of grapes.Table wine cannot hold a label of sort.

Table wines with label of controled origin is the wine produced with one or more sorts of grapes which come from the one vineyard region.

Quality wine with label of controled origin is the wine produced from one or more sorts of grapes which come from one vineyard sub-region with outstanding quality organolepic characteristics important for ecologic conditions and for sorts of certain vineyard sub-region, hilly area full of vineyards or area which label wine holds and which is preserved in that sub-region.

First-class wine with label of controled origin is the wine produced from certain sort or group of sorts of grapes which come from one or more vineyards areas in the frame of one hilly area full of vineyards with special outstanding quality, specific organolepic and chemical characeristic important for ecologic conditions of position and sort , more exactly of groups of sort of grapes.That wine also must be preserved and bottled in vineyards hilly area full of vineyards that encircles a certain position.

If wine holds label of sort it must be produced from at least 85% of grapes from sort which name holds.

Predicates wines are the wines which is outstanding years in special conditions of ripening, in the way of picking and processing, give a special quality and thay must be produced only from grapes of recommended sorts from certain hilly area full of vineyards.

Archive wine is the wine kept in basement conditions longer than its optimal ripe, and at least five years from the day of processing of grapes into wine, and of which at least three years in bottle.

Special wines are the wines obtained by the special way of processing of grapes , must or wine without supplement or with supplement of certain quality of wine's alcohol, wine's destillate, sugar, concentrated must and aromatic or other allowed substances of herbal origin.

Special wines are :

• desert wine
• liquer wine
• aromatized wine

Sparkling wines are the wines which along with other certain ingredients contents increased omount of carbon dioxide, because of which we have abundant foam at the opening of a bottle.

In sparkling wines we consider natural sparkling wines and carbonated sparkling wines.
